ABOUT ME

About Me

Hello I'm Jane Gittins

As an experienced Cognitive Behaviour Therapist (CBT), I work with a wide range of people and specialise in the treatment and support of children and young people, helping them to achieve positive change in the areas of anxiety, depression, OCD and PTSD.

My experience has been gained in public and private practice, working with both children (7yrs+), young people and adults. I have more than 11 years’ experience in Children's Services including: youth work; targeted support for NEET young people (Not in Education Employment or Training); Social Care; and the Wellbeing Team for Achieving For Children (Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead).

I spent five years working within the Wellbeing Team, delivering individual evidence-based psychological therapy to children and young people between the ages of 7-18 years for a range of mental health disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD and other moderate to severe mental health difficulties. During this time, I worked in collaboration with children, families, schools and support agencies as well as the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).

Preventive mental health work is also close to my heart, and I have delivered Mental Health Training to both primary and secondary schools, and local agencies, as well as designing and delivering group programmes and parent courses.

I work part-time as a Primary Care Mental Health Practitioner at The Royal Holloway University London providing mental health triage, assessments, individual CBT treatment, group therapy and workshops for students (18 years+).

In all my roles I bring warmth, understanding and a sense of humour to build trusting therapeutic relationships. This is driven by a passion to empower all my clients, no matter their age, to build self-esteem and confidence to achieve personal positive change and outcomes.

I am continually developing and enhancing my clinical skills through ongoing personal development and regular supervision as required by the BABCP.
